About Akello Molly

Akello Molly was born on the 20th of April 1986 in small village in District of Soroti. She has never been to school due to lack of school fees.
Molly got married in 2000 and later the husband abandoned her in December 2006, leaving her with three children and a pregnancy. In 2000 one child passed away due to lack of proper medication and care from the mother. In 2007 she lost the second child too.
After the death of her two children, she was advised by the mother to go and test for HIV and she found that she was HIV positive, and so was the new born child.
She left the village and came to Kampala were she could have her medication easily. While in Kampala she moved in with her mother and her 2 children. They were sharing a mud house, single room, not in a good condition.
In 2006 Caring Hands trained Molly, her mother (Apio Pascalina) and her other sister (Akullo Evalyn) how to make paper beads. She was able to make some little money that enabled her rent a single room which she moved in with her 2children, Ogole Ceasar and Ojok Tony. Since she is uneducated, making beads in Caring Hands is the only way she is able to make a living and be able to support her family.
Her biggest challenges are that children are sick all the time, feeding of the family and paying of the house rent is hard and also her health worries her so much.
Molly is attending in Adult Literacy Program and learning English and also writing and reading.
She has also bought a small plot of land to herself and pays now loan by making beads and hopes that she can start to build a house of her own to her small family soon.
