Alfred Othieno

Born on 26th June 1969, Alfred is a father of three; Samuel 12, Miriam 7 and Diaus 5. He lost his wife when Miriam was just 8months old in 2003. Diaus mother also did not live with him and soon got married to another man so she brought the boy to stay with his father.

The four, (Alfred and his three kids) stay in a single room in Kinawataka, a Kampala suburb. Unfortunately, Samuel and Miriam have sickle cell anemia and they need daily medication which is still a challenge considering their father’s pay.

from Caring Hands.Alfred came to the Caring Hands offices in August 2009 in search of a job. Caring Hands now pays school fees for Miriam who is in primary two while Samuel is sponsored by another project. However, Diaus has not begun school yet as the father cannot afford his school fees. The family occasionally gets food and house rent
